THE CAN CAN CLUB

Some days, you just need to let out your inner Martha. A few weeks ago I was invited to my friend Melissa's canning club. Having never been a canner myself, but always being intrigued by the process, I made sure to clear the day for it.

First, let me tell you - Melissa is the hostess with the mostest! Not only does her fabulous bungalow set the perfect background for a gathering, but the girl knows how to entertain. The guests were lovely, the drinks were flowing, the food was somehow simultaneously simple and over-the-top good and she still managed to be a great canning teacher for us newbies.

On this particular day, the menu consisted of Prosecco Passionfruit (fresh from her backyard garden!) Jam and Brandied Cherries. For the jam, I've had it on toast, on cheese plates and maybe even snuck in a few spoon-fulls of it by itself - it's wonderful. For the cherries, we've so far mixed them into a few Old Fashioned drinks and plan to keep playing around with them in other cocktail recipes. We used the oven to seal the cans and it was so simple once it got going. Thinking I might do a few batches of each for Christmas presents!

Lucky for us, Melissa has graciously shared the recipes with us (end of post) and my friend and uber-talented photographer, Angie, the lady behind the camera at Infatuated Eye Photography, has shared some of her beautiful pics from the day. Thank you ladies, you really are the best!

Enjoy.

FOUND

Grab a cup of coffee and get your "Pin It" button ready. Simply named Found, National Geographic has created a Tumbler page featuring photography from their archives. Depicting everything from everyday life to war photography, the images are all amazing. I love how some of the photos taken in 1944 look like they could be from yesterday. These are a few of my favorites.

BABY KJELTEN PHOTOS

I'm absolutely melting over these photos of my nephew Kjelten. They were taken by my sister's sister-in-law, Becca, of Becca Wood Photography, when he was just teeny tiny. She perfectly captured their new little family and am sure they will treasure these forever. And man, it really is amazing how fast those little ones grow.

See the entire collection of Kjelten's photos here.

Take a look at Becca's other work here. She's such a talented photographer!

WEDDING WEDNESDAYS // WE CALL THIS LOVE

Three weeks to go until our engagement pictures! We had plans to take them a few weeks ago but the weather forecast did not agree. We are so thrilled to have Kimberly Genevieve doing our engagement and wedding pictures. Her new wedding website, We Call This Love, is now live and bursting with gorgeous pictures of couples and their wedding days.

We are heading up to Malibu for all of the pictures. I'm still a little nervous about what to wear for engagement pictures, how to stand, etc. but I'm sure the perfect scenery and Kimberly's amazing talent will help us look a little better and less awkward than our normal pictures, haha.

Either way, can't wait to have her and her boyfriend, Andre, be a part of our big day. Check out all of their gorgeous wedding and engagement photography here.

This week marks six months to go til the big day, eeee!

WEDDING WEDNESDAY: ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS

When I came across these pictures yesterday on Once Wed by Jill Thomas I became obsessed. Maybe it's the excitement of being newly engaged and thinking of the endless possibilities for an engagement shoot. Probably though, it's just the pure awesomeness of the photos. Did you do engagement photos? Any recommendations or advice?
